Yohji Yamamoto's collection is a mix of Edwardian romance and punk drama. The Edwardian part came in flounced slip dresses some with boned underskirts, puffy sleeve jackets, cropped capes, high great coats and bloomer skirts. All the collection is made with second skin mesh dresses. The punk side showed in Dr. Martens boots with lots of straps.

V&A celebrates Yohji Yamamoto
Victoria and Albert Museum celebrates Yohji Yamamoto, creative designer who revolutionized the fashion's aesthetics, along with Rei Kawakubo and Issey Miyake. The exhibition, which will be held from 12th March to 10 July, is set up by set and lighting designer Masao Nihei and it will present more than 80 dresses, including some men's collections pieces, and sketches and photographs. The exhibition also includes videos of his collaborations with artists, filmmakers and dancers such as Pina Baush, Takeshi Kitano, Wim Wenders...
The retrospective, since his debut in Paris in 1981, analyzes his visionary idea of women's fashion, made at the beginning of male clothing elements, jackets, suits, vests, and shoes that still are the key features of the fashion house; then aristo-minimal creations, made of massive hats and long and monochromatic dresses, up to the increasingly asymmetric.
The photographer Nick Knight, who reinterpreted some images of historical garments, and Pater Seville, graphic designer who worked on the catalogue, took part in the project.

YOHJI YAMAMOTO F/W 2011-2012
Yohji Yamamoto proposed a winter collection for men of all ages, where the attention and the care for the shape is combined with the function. Jackets and trousers (ankle rolled) are oversized and unstructured; very relaxed and fluid. The first jackets on the catwalk have rounded cuts and an unusual buttoning. Colours are very dark, but not too serious; a lot of prints (cherry, skeletons and geometries) especially on the maxi version sweaters. A bit of bright red, and real art masterpieces in the final outfits.
