Carine Roitfeld collaborates with Barneys

The rumors about the Roitfeld's future have been buzzing since she decided to leave Vogue Paris; someone wanted her next to Tom Ford, or as creative director for Yves Saint Laurent or to replace John Galliano at Christian Dior. Instead, the next role of Carine Roitfeld will be that of guest editor and stylist for Barneys New York, one of the most important US department store.

Carine Roitfeld shifts to retail world and will style the fall/winter 2011-2012 ad campaign shot by photographer Mario Sorrenti.

Giovanna Battaglia to W?

Giovanna Battaglia, freelance stylist who has worked for magazine like L'Uomo Vogue, Vogue Paris, Vogue Italia and Vogue Gioiello, has decided to move in New York to be closer to her boyfriend Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld, son of the Vogue Paris' former editor-in-chief; but love is not the only reason of her move. A rep of W magazine claimed that Battaglia has secured a place at W but whether she'll join the magazine on a full time basis or will simply freelance is still unclear.

Savage Beauty Preview

Alexander McQueen's creations will be presented at the Constume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum in New York, from May 4 to July 31. An exhibition's preview was presented yesterday at the London Ritz, the location much loved by the designer, where he set his first fashion show. Patronesses of this event that closed London Fashion Week were Samatha Cameron, British first lady, and the Chief Editor of Vogue Usa, Anna Wintour.
The exhibit expresses the creative output of the designer, who died prematurely in 2010: from the nihilistic mood of his debut in 1994 up until his Angels & Demons last collection, presented posthumously.

HAHN-BIN: The Renaissance of Classical Music

When he was 5 Hahn-Bin received from his parents his first violin, proving to be a child prodigy. At present he's 22 and is one of the most promising names in classical music.
This Korean violinist has built his reputation thanks to his eye-catching style and his musical virtuosity. His swept-up mohawk, his fingerless glove glittering with golden charms on one hand and his eyes framed in dark makeup are an integral part of his musical performances.

This is a special performance by Hahn-Bin at the Top of the Standard.

CALVIN KLEIN COLLECTION F/W 2011-2012

Calvin Klein is one of the American fashion's giant, is the epitome of minimalism. Creative director, Francisco Costa, placed emphasis on fabrics and zeroed in on a few uncomplicated, graphic silhouettes: above-the-knee shift dresses, cigarette pants worn with bulky coats on the retro, short-A-line skirts. For evening dresses become softer, with colors ranging from pink to beige. This is Costa minimalism!

JEREMY SCOTT F/W 2011-2012

SO TRASH!!!

Jeremy Scott once again plays with pop culture and sends on the catwalk a an annoyingly trash collection. The fashion designer is able to snatch a few smiles (maybe desperate), but the collection is overly flamboyant, populist and portraits a doll and silicon-doped woman. Fashion should make you smile but no in this way: you can do something to impact without sliding into ridiculous. Jeremy Scott fails. A really ugly collection

PROENZA SCHOULER F/W 2011-2012

Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, aka Proenza Schouler, have created a collection inspired by their last trip to the territories once inhabited by Native Americans. Warm desert colors and geometric patterns of Navajo and Cheyenne's blankets; everything is seen through modern eyes. A very successful etno-techno collection. There are no evening gowns for the red carpet, but beautiful velvet dresses, with an intelligent balance of diagonals that form the body.

VERA WANG F/W 2011-2012

Vera Wang doesn't disappoint! The fashion designer sends on the catwalk a series of beautiful charleston-chiffon dresses, pleated and so light that seem intangible. This delicacy is combined with the determination of black leather gloves, ankle boots with a massive plateau and parka with fur inserts. Strong emphasis on outerwear, declined in the most varied interpretations: parkas, anoraks, waistcoats, coats, sportswear-inspired but made with luxurious materials and fur-covered. A perfect collection!

RODARTE F/W 2011-2012

It's not the best Rodarte's collection, but sisters Mulleavy have maintained their sophisticated and elegant vision on fashion. For next winter, Laura and Kate had taken the Terrence Malick's movie "Days of Heaven" as their inspiration, sending on the catwalk silk gowns printed with a wheat field at the hem, wool and mohair sweaters, apron skirts. Countrified clothes with the typical Rodarte style. Great importance to the ankle-grazing prairie coats. The shoes are not fabulous as in previous collection.
