Miu Miu: "The Powder Room" by Zoe Cassavetes
Commissioned by the Italian fashion house, filmmaker Zoe Cassavetes presents The Powder Room, the first of "The Miu Miu Women's Tales", a series of short movies by international female filmmakers that explore their fantasies about the brand.
The movie, set in London's Claridges Hotel, delves into the ultra-feminine environment where gestures between women are traded in their rituals of opulence and beauty. Featuring Audrey Marnay, Line Gost, Caroline de Maigret & Sophie Vlaming, Cassavetes' movie perfectly reflects the beauty and luxury of the Miu Miu universe.

"The curve of Forgotten Things" Rodarte's short movie by Todd Cole
Yesterday I proposed the trailer, today the full version of the Todd Cole's film is available on http://www.nowness.com/. The film highlights design duo Kate and Laura Mulleavy's spring 2011 collection for Rodarte, which drew inspiration from 1970s northern California, referencing Redwood forests, the gold rush and Asian influences. The star of The Curve of Forgotten Things is Elle Fanning, she pirouettes through the empty rooms of the historic Baldwin House, her outfits magically changing from one room to the next.

Alexandre Plokhov is back
Alexandre Plokvoh - who, after the closure of Cloak in 2007, worked as Versace menswear's designer under Donatella - returns with a namesake men collection for next Fall/Winter.
The same dark and armor-like qualities that defined Cloak are back, the designer, in the past days, has showed the new line in Paris. Panels swing closed over wool jersey cardigans and hooded, asymmetrical-hem parkas; wool coats have a slightly rough feel to the touch and zip leather jackets hug the body as a second skin.
Plokvoh also followed the latest trend, showing his collection with a short movie directed by Douglas Keeve.

"The time I had some time alone" by Willy Vanderperre for Dior Homme
Kriss Van Assche chose photographer Willy Vanderperre to present his Dior Homme spring/summer 2011 collection. They have made a short movie where modern and traditional aesthetics coexist.
It's a film with a dreamlike atmosphere where person and suit come together. The abandoned location is in contrast to the luxury; the movie's idea is to show the dreams of youth, the careless feeling of freedom, the eroticism of the body enhanced by smooth fabrics. An evocative video, not a simple fashion recording.

GARETH PUGH PITTI 2011 - FILM BY RUTH HOGBEN
Gareth Pugh has inflamed Florence!
Entry to Orsanmichele portends a fantastic night! The guest are greeted by a golden cube (the Gareth's hallmark). An endless stairway, lit only by candles, leads to a perfectly set up first floor, with lit statues and a giant cube at the middle of the room: a touching scene. It is still rising and you are greeted by blue lights and smoke that seems to come from the floor. It's a perfect contrast between the Pugh's contemporary and avant-garde and a Renaissance Florence.
Gareth Pugh presents part of his 2011-2012 fall/winter collection, that it will show in Paris next March, through a short film realized by Ruth Hogben. Natasa Vojnovic, Jonathan Baker and six dancers interpret on screen Pugh's fashion that it remains faithful to the aesthetic values that have marked his collections. It's a contrasts' fashion: male and female, rigidity and softness, structure and fluidity, darkness and light.
Twenty looks that are a clearly homage to Italian art and architecture: from Caravaggio to Bronzino plus many decades to religious iconography. It's a collection inspired by Italian Heritage especially for the artistic importance of the place of which Pugh was a guest. Colours are mainly gold and cobalt blue, but also white and the inevitable black. The clothes are made of light stretchy fabrics, nylon and leather and have sculptural forms.
