"The time I had some time alone" by Willy Vanderperre for Dior Homme

Kriss Van Assche chose photographer Willy Vanderperre to present his Dior Homme spring/summer 2011 collection. They have made a short movie where modern and traditional aesthetics coexist.

It's a film with a dreamlike atmosphere where person and suit come together. The abandoned location is in contrast to the luxury; the movie's idea is to show the dreams of youth, the careless feeling of freedom, the eroticism of the body enhanced by smooth fabrics. An evocative video, not a simple fashion recording.

PRINGLE OF SCOTLAND SS 2011 Ad Campaign Preview

For the spring/summer 2011 ad campaign, Pringle of Scotland chose a great photographer: Walter Pfeiffer who is more accustomed to art photography than commercial projects. The artistic touch is evident, the campaign (shot at hotel Art Nouveau Kurhaus Bergun in St. Moritz) is very sophisticated and contemporary. The work of cooperation  between Pringle of Scotland and Pfeiffer will continue with  a short movie offering a preview of fall/winter 2011-2012 men's collection that will debut in Milan during the Menswear Fashion Week.

The star is the Scottish Freya Mayor, she is one of the hottest faces of the moment.

VALENTINO SS 2011 Ad Campaign Preview

For the 2011 spring/summer campaign, the two fashion designers, Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri, wanted to focus on très chic mood of Valentino's apartment in Place Vendome in Paris, headquarters of the fashion house. The apartment was chosen as the location for the black and white shots signed by David Sims.

It's a very sophisticated and feminine campaign, it embodies the ethereal mood of the collection. Tre models portrayed by Sims: Freja Beha Erichsen, Caroline Brasch and Julia Saner. The idea was to tell, using a film-like atmosphere, the stories of three different women showing moments of their private life in the comfort of their homes.

The models Lindsey Wixson and Nimue Smit are the faces of Mulberry spring/summer 2011 advertising campaign; they are photographed by Tim Walker. One is standing and one lying on a wheelbarrow, in an apartment that is flooded with flowers and a pig to the side.

An extravagant and bit "too much" fashion was sent on the catwalk by Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton. Outfits have exasperated tones, like this ad campaign from the very bright colours and a nod to Orient.

The advertising is signed by Steven Meisel, while the models in these first two shots are Freja Beha Erichsen, Raquel Zimmermann e Kristen McMenamy.

MARC BY MARC JACOBS SS 2011 Ad Campaign Preview: Gender Games

Marc Jacobs has chosen the young model Andrej Pejic as the new face of the campaign for his second line. He is 19 and so androgynous that he may be mistaken for a woman. Photos were shot by Juergen Teller, and rumors say that the location for the shooting was Marrakech.

This advertising campaign is not the first to play with gender. Riccardo Tisci has picked the transsexual model Lea T. for the fall/winter 2010-2011 Givenchy's campaign. She perfectly played the male/female dualism of Tisci's creations.

YVES SAINT LAURENT SS 2011 Ad Campaign Preview

For the next ad campaign, Yves Saint Laurent didn't chose the model Daria Werbowy or black and white images. Arizona Muse will be the YSL spring/summer 2011 face; throughout 2010 she was considered a model to keep an eye on. Colour photography for the campaign is by Inez van Lamsweerde e Vinoodh Matadin, while the styling has been edited by Stefano Pilati that chose the gardens of Bled Roknine as a location, a Thirties style villa in Marrakech. 

This ad campaign is a tribute to the French fashion designer's love for the colours and the beauty of Marocco, where Saint Laurent took great inspiration for many of his collections.

As always, the advertising campaigns are a great way to promote a collection. But apparently, Marc Jacobs decided to save money and time on advertising for S/S 2011.

He chose to promote his clothes with pictures taken by photographer Juergen Teller during the brand's runway collection in New York. As a matter of fact, the pictures' background is the setting of Marc Jacobs' defilé of his S/S 2011 collection.

A well-organized campaign can revive the fortunes of a collection that it was not appreciated by the critics. The last Marc Jacobs' collection has not been greeted with a standing ovation. The American designer has brought us back to the 70's in a too self-referential way; he is convinced that the Seventies are the most desirable years for fashonistas. For this reason, we expected a powerful ad campaign treated in details; partly because Teller is a master of the camera and has always managed to make Jacobs' collection so attractive.

Publicity stunt to speak again of him? Maybe, considering that Mr. Jacobs loves when it comes to him (for better or for worse). The latest campaign for the male fragrance Bang makes clear that the designer is devoted to the worship of his person. Building on the fact that its brand is a winner, that its stores (which seem, in some ways, bazaar offering thousands of junk) are always overcrowded; Marc Jacobs has felt entitled to make a poor and not very attractive campaign, since the conviction to sell anyway.

And he will continue to sell because behind his name, Marc Jacobs has built a status symbol, a vain and ephemeral world which today seems to be so fashionable...giving, however, another jab at the Fashion with the capital F.

BALENCIAGA SS 2011 Ad Campaign Preview

Steven Meisel signs the campaign for S/S 2011 punk collection of Nicholas Ghequière for Balenciaga. Gisele Bundchen, sporting a completely new look, is the model; she is accompanied by a male model named Yuri Pleskun wearing a ghoulish make up and little else.

Marie-Amélie styled the shoot, Pat McGrath took care of the make-up and Guido Palau was the hair-stylist. Paris-based graphic design duo M/M takes credit for a graphic layout, mixing crisp color images with vintage-looking black-and-white shots.
