Karl Lagerfeld entitled this collection Paris-Byzance. The set refers to the Byzantine world with its mosaics, decorations and opulence. Everything is so damn gold (too much): from the set to clothes. Embroideries, precious stones and feathers; everything is dazzling. Fabrics are opulent too: brocade, velvet, lace and chiffon, but also wool, textured wool and tweed. The bodies are wrapped in precious cocoons. Accessories are very ornate: clutches, leather belts with jeweled buckles, brocade handbags, suede cuissards with gold broches; and then necklaces, bracelets and little crowns. Very rich collection, but definitely too much to be a pre-fall; also too many outfits: 63!
Karl Lagerfel ha chiamato questa collezione Paris-Byzance e la scenografia non poteva che strizzare l'occhio al mondo bizantino dei mosaici, delle decorazioni e dell'opulenza. Tutto è così maledettamente dorato (troppo): dalla scenografia agli abiti. Ricami, pietre preziose e piume; ogni cosa abbaglia. Anche i tessuti sono opulenti: broccati, velluti, pizzi, chiffon, ma anche lana, lana operata e tweed. Il corpo è come se fosse avvolto da preziosi bozzoli. Gli accessori sono iperdecorati: borse e clutch, cinture di pelle con fibbie-gioiello, borse a mano di broccato, cuissards di suède con pietre preziose; e poi collane, bracciali e coroncine. Collezione molto ricca, ma decisamente eccessiva per essere una pre-fall, anche nel numero di outfit: ben 63!
